General Fitness at Rise Movement Co

What should I wear?

We encourage you to wear anything you feel comfortable in! Shorts, sports bras, tank tops, t-shirts, and leggings are all welcome. For pole grip, shorts are recommended. Please avoid using lotions, oils, or creams at least 24 hours before class, as they make the pole slippery and unsafe.

Do I need experience to start pole?

Not at all! We offer beginner-friendly classes designed for students with no prior experience. You’ll learn foundational moves, strength-building techniques, and proper safety basics.

Do I need to be strong or flexible?

Nope! Strength and flexibility are built over time. Our classes are designed to meet you where you are and progress safely.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early for your first class to allow you time to change, get oriented, and settle in for class.

Is pole fitness safe?

Yes, when practiced correctly. Our instructors emphasize proper technique, spotting, and conditioning. Always listen to your body and communicate any injuries or concerns.

How do I cancel a booked class?

You can manage your bookings directly through your account under the Bookings tab on our website or app.

All cancellations must be completed online at least 12 hours before class start time. All purchases are non-refundable, however unused class credits will remain on your account until their expiry date.

If cancelling within 12 hours of class, please message us directly. Late cancellations will result in forfeiting the class credit.

What if I’m nervous or intimidated?

Totally normal! Our studio is a supportive, judgment-free environment. Everyone starts somewhere — and we celebrate progress at every level.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes! We offer private and semi-private training for personalized coaching, faster progression, and special goals. Contact us to book.

What ages can attend classes?

Our classes are geared towards those who are over 18+. This excludes Karate classes as they have their own age ranges.

Do you offer class packages or memberships?

Yes! We offer drop-ins, multi-class packs, and memberships. Visit our Pricing page for current options.

Do memberships include retail discounts?

Yes! Active monthly members receive 10% off all in-stock retail items.

Can I upgrade my membership?

Absolutely! To upgrade your membership, simply purchase the new plan and adjust the start date to match your current billing date. Then send us a message through the app so we can cancel future payments on your original membership. If you need help, feel free to email us.

How do I cancel my monthly membership?

We’re sad to see you go, but we understand that life happens.

Please email us at Risemovementco@outlook.com at least 30 days prior to your requested cancellation date.

If you require a temporary hold (up to 2 months) for medical reasons, please contact us as soon as possible so we can suspend your payments.

Karate at Rise Movement Co

Do I or my child need prior experience to join?

Not at all. Our classes are designed for complete beginners as well as returning martial artists. Sensei Kyle has decades of experience working with all levels, so everyone feels supported and challenged at their own pace.

What age groups can join Karate at Rise Movement Co?

Kids Karate is open to ages 5–10.

Adult Karate is open to ages 16+.

For younger children, we recommend waiting until they are able to focus for a full class, follow instructions, and show readiness for a structured environment.

What should we wear to class?

For the first few sessions, comfortable athletic clothing is fine (t-shirt and shorts or leggings). Once you decide to continue, a karate uniform (gi) is recommended. We’ll guide you on where to purchase one affordably.

Is Karate safe for kids?

Yes. Safety is our top priority. Classes are age-appropriate, fully supervised, and focused on control and discipline rather than reckless contact. Kids are taught respect for themselves and others, with zero tolerance for bullying.

Will Karate make my child aggressive?

No. Karate teaches discipline, patience, and respect. Students quickly learn that martial arts are not about starting fights, but about self-control and confidence. Parents often notice less aggression at home as kids gain focus and maturity.

What equipment is needed?

Nothing for beginners. As students progress and begin controlled sparring, protective gear such as gloves, shin/foot pads, and a mouthguard will be required. We’ll provide clear guidance before this stage.

What benefits will my child gain from Karate?

  • Parents often notice improvements in:

  • Focus and listening skills

  • Confidence and self-esteem

  • Discipline and respect at home and school

  •  Physical fitness, balance, and coordination

What benefits will adults gain from Karate?

Adults join for many reasons — some want fitness, others want stress relief, and others want self-defense skills. Most discover that Karate provides all three, while also building resilience, focus, and community.

How is Karate at Rise Movement Co different from other sports or activities?

Team sports are fantastic for teamwork. Karate adds something unique: patience, self-discipline, and humility. These life skills carry beyond the dojo — into school, work, and everyday life.

When can we start?

Anytime. Our Karate program runs on a regular weekly schedule, and new students are welcomed year-round.

How much does it cost?

We offer straightforward pricing for both Kids and Adult Karate programs, with flexible options for families. Full details are available when you contact us or visit the studio.

Can parents watch classes?

Yes. Parents are welcome to observe, especially during their child’s first sessions. We do ask that you let the instructors lead without interruption so students can stay focused.

Is Rise Movement Co inclusive and welcoming?

Absolutely. Rise Movement Co is an LGBTQ2S+ friendly studio with a zero-tolerance policy for bullying or harassment. Every student — child or adult — deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported here.
